Earthquake Victim Patients At West Pasaman Hospital Choose To Survive In Tents
SIMPANG EMPAT - Regional General Hospital (RSUD) Pasaman Barat, West Sumatra said earthquake victims still chose to stay in emergency tents because they were still traumatized by the aftershocks.
"There are about 10 more patients affected by the earthquake who chose to stay in emergency tents in the hospital yard today," said the Director of the West Pasaman Hospital, Yandri, in Simpang Empat, quoted by Antara, Tuesday, March 1.
According to him, the medical personnel, a number of equipment, to the patient's bed were still placed in four emergency tents that stood in the hospital yard.
A number of patients were also seen lying in bed to receive medical treatment, accompanied by their respective families.
As for general patients, he said, they had been moved back into the building on the first floor in the hope that when there was an aftershock it would be easy to evacuate.
Yandri detailed that since Friday, February 25, his office had received 49 earthquake victims. 31 patients with serious injuries, 16 lightly injured and two people were referred to the M. DJamil Hospital in Padang.
"An operation has also been carried out by a team of orthopedic specialists who came from Padang in collaboration with the orthopedic hospital for 14 people," he said.
Currently, the patient's complaints are mostly due to trauma. There was trauma to the head, legs and fractures in the thighs, calves and shoulders.
"Indeed, there are some patients who have recovered but are still in the hospital because they don't know where to go because their houses were destroyed by the earthquake," he said.
