UN Delivers Data On Civilian Victims In Ukraine For The Russian Invasion, There Are At Least 536 People
JAKARTA - At least 136 civilians have been killed, including 13 children, and 400 others have been injured since Russia pounded Ukraine last week, the United Nations agency said on Tuesday, March 1.
"The actual death toll is likely much higher," spokeswoman for the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) Liz Throssell told a news conference.
Throssell also said 253 of the victims were in the Donetsk and Lugansk regions of eastern Ukraine.
The United Nations World Food Program (WFP) is increasing its activities in Ukraine so it can help up to 3.1 million people, said WFP spokesman Tomson Phiri.
"Food supplies are running low now," he said, adding. Meanwhile, the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) reports that more than 660,000 people, the majority of whom are children and women, have fled Ukraine and fled to neighboring countries in the last six months since the invasion began.
UNHCR spokeswoman Shabia Mantoo told a news conference in Geneva that there were reports that people were waiting up to 60 hours to reach Poland.
Meanwhile, the queue at the Romanian border stretched to 20 km.
