Rumors Circulated That A Resident Died Because He Was Stuck In Traffic On The Peak Route, The Police Denied: No

BOGOR - Bogor Police Chief AKBP Iman Imanuddin denied reports circulating on social media that people had died from exhaustion trapped in severe traffic jams on the Puncak Line, Bogor Regency, West Java, on Sunday, February 28.

"None (people died). Yesterday, while waiting, we distributed snacks and mineral water," he said while reviewing traffic conditions at Simpang Gadog, Ciawi, Bogor, as reported by Antara, Monday, February 28.

According to him, police officers on guard along the Puncak route have even been assigned to guard vehicles that need to be prioritized, such as ambulances.

"For ambulances and vehicles that must be prioritized, we carry out escorts. Especially for ambulances that carry sick people," said Iman.

The density of vehicles in the southern area of Bogor Regency has occurred since Saturday, February 28, due to the large number of people taking vacations during the Isra Mikraj commemoration long holiday.

Iman said that his party was overcoming the density of the Peak Line by implementing traffic engineering in the form of a one-way or one-way system and an odd-even system alternately situationally.

"Today, we are implementing a one-way route from Cianjur to Jakarta. We can see that the situation is quite smooth. Hopefully, the traffic engineering that we are doing can help people to enjoy their trip without traffic jams," he said.

Meanwhile, West Java Police Chief Inspector General Suntana said that the severe traffic jam on the Puncak Line, Bogor Regency, on Sunday, February 27, was due to 10 vehicles breaking down while passing.

"Yesterday there was a density because there were several vehicles that broke down in the middle of the road. There were about 10 vehicles which resulted in quite a long queue," he said at Simpang Gadog, Ciawi, Bogor.

The two-star general said that around 80,000 vehicles had entered the Puncak and Sukabumi areas from the Ciawi toll gate since Saturday, February 26. While from the opposite direction there are about 50 thousand vehicles.

"There are more than 50 thousand who have re-entered the Ciawi Toll Road towards Jakarta, so that the remaining 27 thousand (vehicles) are on the Puncak or Sukabumi route," said Suntana.
