Trauma Recovery Team Deployed To Help Pasaman Earthquake Victims

SUMBAR – The West Sumatra Police (West Sumatra) Regional Police deployed the trauma recovery team to refugee camps in Pasaman and West Pasaman Regencies to help earthquake victims.

The West Sumatra Police Chief Inspector General Teddy Minahasa Putra in Padang, Monday, February 28, said that the trauma recovery team had started working in places where earthquake victims had taken refuge.

He stated that collective trauma recovery efforts could not be carried out due to the limited supporting facilities in the refugee camps.

"As for trauma healing (trauma recovery) it must be in appropriate places, which make the psychological atmosphere comfortable," he said.

In addition to providing trauma recovery services, the police also provided assistance in the form of basic food items to residents affected by the earthquake.

An earthquake with a magnitude of 6.1 that occurred in the West Pasaman Regency area on Friday morning (25/2) has caused 11 people to die, 42 people to be seriously injured, and 346 people to be slightly injured, according to data from the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) on Sunday. 27/2).

In addition, the earthquake caused damage to houses and public facilities and forced around 13,000 people to evacuate.
