Two Rented Houses In Ciracas, East Jakarta Caught Fire, Allegedly Due To An Exploding Stove

JAKARTA - Two rented houses on Jalan Dahlia alley Kecapi, RT 01/06, Kelapa Dua Wetan Village, Ciracas District, East Jakarta, were burned to the ground. The fire is believed to have started on the stove in the house.

"We received a report on the fire incident at 14:14 WIB that there was a fire in Oscar's rented house," said Head of East Jakarta Gulkarmat Sub-dept. Gatot Sulaeman to reporters, Sunday, February 27.

It also deployed 7 units of fire engines to the scene. A total of 35 firefighters fought to extinguish the fire.

"The fire was extinguished at 14:56 WIB. There were no casualties or injuries," he said. After the officers cooled down at the location, East Jakarta Gulkarmat officers checked the location.

"The object that burned was two plots of rented house with a burned area of 100 square meters," he said.

The fire is thought to have been caused by an exploding stove at the scene. At the time of the incident, the tenants were sleeping when they suddenly saw smoke. Then the victim's neighbor also saw smoke and broke the door.

"Losses due to the fire are estimated at Rp 200 million. The fire is thought to have originated from the stove," he said.
