During Ramadan, Trade Minister Lutfi Guarantees Safe And Controlled Cooking Oil Stock
JAKARTA – The scarcity and high price of cooking oil is guaranteed to be safe during the month of Ramadan. This assurance comes from the Ministry of Trade (Kemendag) RI. They ensure that cooking oil stocks are safe when Indonesian people welcome Ramadan in early April 2022.
"Ramadan, God willing, cooking oil stocks will be safe and prices will be normal," said Trade Minister Muhammad Luthfi, in Banda Aceh, Saturday, February 26, as quoted by Antara.
This was conveyed by Muhammad Luthfi on the sidelines of a work visit and checking the availability and price of cooking oil at the Al Mahirah Lamdingin integrated market, Banda Aceh City.
In addition to cooking oil, according to Luthfi, the Ministry of Trade also ensures that there will be no fluctuations for basic food items such as sugar, including the issue of soybeans.
"I am sure that sugar will not fluctuate, and what we are thinking about today is the problem of soybeans, where there is not enough domestic goods, more than 85 percent of large soybeans are imported," he said.
Not only that, said Luthfi, the Ministry of Trade also continues to mitigate beef. This was done because Australia had announced that this year they were restricting cattle exports.
"So we are very careful because Australia just announced this year they are only selling 40 per cent of their normal exports," he said.
Luthfi also invited local governments to jointly mitigate the price of meat, considering international prices have also increased.
