Rodtang Vs Demetrious Bout At ONE X Held In Muaythai Rules And MMA, Angela Lee: Wow, This Is Something New
JAKARTA - ONE Atomweight world champion Angela Lee said that the clash between muaythai star Rodtang Jitmuangnon and free-fight (MMA) star Demetrious Johnson (DJ) at ONE X in Singapore on 26 March was something new.
The match as a celebration of ONE Championship's decade, according to official data from the championship organizers, Thursday will use special rules. The first and third rounds will take place in muaythai, while the second and fourth rounds will take place in MMA.
"I was shocked. In my heart I felt 'Oh, wow, this is something new,'" said Angela Lee in her official statement quoted by Antara, Thursday.
“I mean, we've never heard of anything like this before in the mixed martial arts world. So of course this is very interesting. It has generated a lot of talk and everyone is looking forward to how the game will go."
DJ's name is always brought up in every topic of the best MMA athlete of all time (GOAT) thanks to the dominance he has shown in his career. With a 30-3-1 (WLD) record, his agility and speed are unmatched.
Many predict that the match will end shortly after the match takes place in MMA. However, escaping Rodtang's punches and kicks throughout the first round was a tough challenge for DJ.
Rodtang is a 'monster' in the muay thai world. The 24-year-old has an incredible 267-42-10 record with a 10-game winning streak in ONE. He is one of the best fighters from Thailand who has stepped into the world of combat sports from a young age.
"I don't know, it's crazy," said Angela Lee of her predictions regarding their match.
“Of course, I will support MMA fighters. I will support the DJ, but I think Rodtang is a monster, and it will not be easy,” explained Angela Lee.
The meeting of DJ and Rodtang is a show that celebrates the diversity of martial arts, as ONE Championship has always been the world's largest martial arts organization.
The ONE X event itself is planned to feature more than 20 grand bouts containing MMA, Muaythai, kickboxing, and other sporting disciplines. In either event, Angela Lee will defend her atomweight gold belt against Stamp Fairtex as the ONE Women's Atomweight World Grand Prix champion.
