Jerinx Sentenced To One Year In Prison

JAKARTA - The judges of the Central Jakarta District Court sentenced musician I Gede Aryastina alias Jerinx to one year in prison and a fine of Rp. 25 million.

"Sentencing the defendant for one year and a fine of Rp. 25 million, subsidiary of 1 month," said Central Jakarta District Court Chief Judge Surachmat when reading the verdict in the court room, reported by Antara, Thursday, February 24.

This verdict is lighter than the demands of the Public Prosecutor (JPU), namely imprisonment for two years.

Jerinx was charged with violating Article 29 in conjunction with Article 45 B of Law Number 19 of 2016 concerning Amendments to Law Number 11 of 2008 concerning Information and Electronic Transactions (hereinafter referred to as the ITE Law) and Article 27 paragraph (4) in conjunction with Article 45 paragraph (4 ) UU ITE.

The drummer for the Superman is Dead (SID) band was also demanded by the Prosecutor to pay a fine of Rp. 50 million and a subsidiary imprisonment for two months.

There are several considerations the judge handed down the verdict. An aggravating consideration is that the defendant has been sentenced.

"The mitigating considerations have been to apologize to the victim's witness. The two of them behaved politely in court and admitted frankly their actions and promised not to repeat their actions," said the judge.

Based on the verdict, the judge invited Jerinx to consult with the legal team.

Jerinx also decided to consider the verdict for the next seven days.

For information, Jerinx SID was charged with intentionally and without rights sending electronic information containing threats, violence, or intimidation directed at Adam Deni.

Adam Deni previously reported Jerinx to Polda Metro Jaya and since then the legal process has been going to court.
