JAKARTA - The teaser trailer for the film Satria Dewa: Gatotkaca was just released on Wednesday, February 23. But not yet a day after it was announced, netizens suspected that the Ghatotkacha symbol was similar to Captain Marvel from Marvel.

The director of Satria Dewa: Gatotkaca, Hanung Bramantyo, explained that the star symbol in Gatotkaca costume had been his trademark for a long time. In addition, the production team only adapts what is already in the puppet.

"For me, Marvel fans may claim that it is Marvel's logo. But the name of the star can belong to anyone. Especially when I made the film 'Gatotkaca', the star has become the symbol of Gatotkaca. It has been a long time, "said Hanung Bramantyo launched ANTARA.

Hanung also feels that the problem with the star logo is not only Marvel's. The star is the hallmark of Gatotkaca that has never been removed or changed.

"We decided to use an octagonal star. But that the star was taken from Captain Marvel or what, no. We did use the symbol Ghatotkacha. I'm afraid that if we remove it, Gatotkaca's identity will be lost and I will be protested by the fans of the Gatotkaca wayang," said Gatotkaca. Hanung.

There are three characteristics of Gatotkaca that never go away, namely wings, mustache, and stars. Dewa Satria Studio which handles the production process also tries not to change the existing characteristics in wayang and other forms of distribution.

Citing the words of Winston Churchill, Hanung Bramantyo said that history can be written by winners.

"The entertainment world is like politics, that whoever has the most followers wins. Marvel has a lot of followers. (In the world of) entertainment, whoever has a lot of followers, he is in power," said Hanung.

"Wayang was born because its value is very good, philosophical values that are very influential in human life," he continued.

Hanung hopes that the Indonesian people can find meaningful values from Satria Dewa: Gatotkaca. Gatotkaca heroes can also be a source of pride for Indonesia.

"I really believe when watching Marvel and DC they hope, 'Try Indonesian people can make a film like this'. We will realize that hope as much as possible," said Hanung Bramantyo.

Satria Dewa: Gatotkaca will be released in June 2022.
