Hanung Bramantyo's Ambition To Make Wayang Characters As Marvel Superheroes: This Is The Way To Answer Haram Puppets
JAKARTA - The puppet polemic that occurred some time ago. Hanung Bramantyo as director of Satria Dewa: Gatotkaca also opened his voice.
"Everyone can have an opinion. But I view wayang as a value, not something I should worship. As long as the value is positive and enlightening, why not inspire," said Hanung when releasing the teaser for the film Satria Dewa: Gatotkaca at Pacific Place, South Jakarta, Tuesday, February 22.
Hanung understands the concern of people who say that wayang can become haram because it becomes a deity other than God. However, Hanung himself sees wayang as having a very large value, one of the original Indonesian superhero characters who also often becomes a puppet is Gatotkaca.
Gatotkaca is an Indonesian puppet character. His character and values can be translated in various forms. Hanung raised it into a film and packaged it as attractively as possible so that it has high value and becomes a superhero for Indonesian children.
"Gatotkaca can be transformed like Marvels and DC have. It's all the result of transformation, what's important? The value is not lost, namely Gatotkaca is a puppet superhero character, where he is an original and made Indonesian character. .
Ghatotkacha, continued Hanung, is a quiet person, but often defends the truth in silence. Then never talk much when solving a problem, whether small or big.
"Besides that, Gatotkaca always solves his problems without saying much. He moves in loneliness," he said.
Hanung also wanted to package it subtly. There was a battle, but it didn't show any blood in the fight in it.
"If we look at Marvel films, the battles are excited but there is no blood. That's why children can watch it. That's why the film Satria Dewa: Gatotkaca will also not show blood," said Hanung Bramantyo.
