Citizens' Request For Formula E In Jakarta To Be Canceled

Their excitement about the plan for the Formula E event entered the trending topic on Twitter with the hashtag #shameOnyouFormulaEJakarta.
Anger was based on the reason that the electric car racing event cost up to trillions of rupiah, which according to a number of netizens, this figure is actually detrimental to residents of Jakarta who are currently being hit by floods.
One of the netizens said that Jakarta residents currently need the funds more to fix various facilities and dwellings damaged by the floods.

Warganet also mentioned that the waste management budget is smaller than the cost of performing Formula E. They asked the organizer, FIA, to cancel Jakarta as the host for the electric car race.
Previously, the plan to organize Formula E also received criticism from the Indonesian Solidarity Party (PSI) faction. They urged the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government to cancel the activity following the estimated deficit in Jakarta's revenue in 2019.
The budget plan for the implementation of Formula E reaches IDR 1.6 trillion. As much as IDR 305.2 billion was used as an estimated cost for the preparation of holding these international sports activities.

The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government has assigned the Regional Owned Enterprises (BUMD) Jakarta Propertindo (Jakpro) to seek funding for the implementation of Formula E car racing which amounts to trillions of rupiah, in addition to using the regional budget in the APBD.
Even though it takes up a very large Formula E budget, the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government ensures that it will not interfere with other priority programs such as handling waste and structuring slum villages.
The 2019-20 Formula E race started in November and the first series took place in Saudi Arabia. Unlike other racing series, Formula E racers will compete fast on highway circuits in 13 major cities in the world.
Jakarta will join 11 other major cities in the world such as London and New York as the host of the Formula E race.
The single-seater electric vehicle racing championship will be held in the heart of the Indonesian capital, precisely in the area of the National Monument (Monas).
