Police Arrest Cheap Cooking Oil Fraudsters In Koja
JAKARTA - Police arrested Dea Aulia (39) in connection with a fraud case involving the sale of cooking oil in the North Jakarta area. This case has gone viral on social media.
"So, in the case of cooking oil in the North, the perpetrators offered it through social media," said Head of Public Relations of the Polda Metro Jaya Kombes E. Zulpan to reporters, Tuesday, February 22.
This fraud case went viral after the Instagram account @lensa_berita_jakarta uploaded a video. The video shows women being tricked into selling cheap cooking oil in Koja, North Jakarta.
From the results of the investigation, the suspect sold cooking oil below the market price. In fact, the suspect also offered cheap cooking oil on social media.
"The perpetrator offered through social media at a sloping price of Rp. 170 thousand, one box or one carton containing 6 cooking oil, measuring 2 kilos. Where, the market price is Rp. 230 thousand," said Zulpan.
From the results of the investigation and investigation, the total loss reached Rp. 1.8 billion. However, based on the results of the examination of the victims, only a few met the criminal element.
"We have examined two people as victims who have met the elements of fraud and embezzlement by the suspect with a total loss of IDR 530 million," said Zulpan.
"We are still investigating these 9 other victims because not all victims also reported. Indeed, if the total is Rp. 1.8 billion, but what has been included in the criminal element, fraud and embezzlement by the suspect is Rp. 530 million," he continued.
In this case, Dea has been detained at the North Jakarta Metro Police. He was charged with Article 372 juncto 378 of the Criminal Code regarding fraud.
