Fish In Lake Maninjau Agam, West Sumatra Dies Again 125 Tons, Total As Of February 225 Tons
AGAM - The Department of Fisheries and Food Security (DKPP) of Agam Regency, West Sumatra noted that 125 tons of fish in Lake Maninjau died suddenly due to lack of oxygen. Total fish deaths during February 2022 to 225 tons.
"The 125 tons of fish died on February 19-20 2022 and previously 130 tons died on February 12, 2021", said Head of the Agam Fisheries and Food Security Agency, Rosva Deswita, in Lubukbasung, Antara, Tuesday, February 22.
She said that the 125 tons of fish were in Nagari Koto Kaciak, about 30 tons spread over 200 plots of floating net cages belonging to 40 people. After that, about 30 tons of Nagari Koto Gadang were spread over 200 plots of floating net cages owned by 50 people and Nagari Koto Malintang was about 65 tons spread over 100 floating cage cages owned by 60 people.
"Previously 130 tons of dead fish were scattered in Nagari Koto Malintang with 50 tons and Nagari Duo Koto 80 tons", she said.
Death of fish due to lack of oxygen at the bottom of Lake Maninjau, after the reversal of water from the bottom of the lake. After that, the fish floated to the surface of the lake, and a few hours after that, the carcasses of the fish floated to the surface about 125 tons.
As a result of the incident, farmers suffered losses of around IDR 2.5 billion, because the price of fish at the farm level was IDR 20,000 per kilogram.
