Bareskrim 'Suspects' Corruption Handling In Citemu Village Fund
JAKARTA - The handling of cases of alleged misappropriation of village funds in Citemu, Cirebon, West Java, is currently in the spotlight. This is because the suspect, in this case, is the reporter who revealed the initial suspicion of a criminal act.
The former treasurer of Citemu Village, Nurhayati, was a whistleblower who was later named a suspect in the case.
The determination of the suspect also has an impact on allegations of errors in the handling process.
Criminal Investigation Unit Deploys Team
The Head of the Criminal Investigation Unit of the National Police, Commissioner General Agus Andrianto, also spoke about the case. He stated firmly that he had ordered Wassidik (Investigating Supervisor) to examine the handling of the case
"I asked Karo Wassidik to check and monitor the case," said Agus.
The deployment of the Wassidik Bureau is to ensure that the handling of the case goes according to procedure. Including the process of determining the suspect must be in accordance with the rules.
Cirebon City Police Claims
Cirebon City Police Chief, Grand Commissioner General of Police Fahri Siregar said that the handling of the case of alleged misappropriation of village funds which caused state losses of IDR 800 million was in accordance with the procedure.
Where Nurhayati is considered to have committed a criminal act of misappropriating funds that occurred from 2018 to 2020.
"The determination of Nurhayati's sister as a suspect is also in accordance with the rule of law. Based on the instructions given by the public prosecutor," said Fahri
In addition, in the process, the police have completed several case files for cases of corruption in village funds by the Village Head Citemu Supriyadi, but the Public Prosecutor has always rejected them, arguing that they are incomplete.
Fahri continued that after being rejected, his party re-examined the case, and then referred to the treasurer of Citemu Nurhayati Village, after he was named a suspect after fulfilling the evidence.
"Sister Nurhayati was examined in depth, whether the act (with disbursing funds) was against the law or not. And from the results of the investigation that Sister Nurhayati was involved in enriching brother Supriadi (so he was named a suspect)," he said.
Fahri admitted that his party had not found any evidence related to the flow of village funds into Nurhayati's personal pocket, but his party confirmed that the determination of Nurhayati's suspect was in accordance with the rule of law.
