The Long Struggle Of The Firefighter Team Strive To Evacuate A 700 Kg Crocodile

JAKARTA - Fire and Rescue Service (DPKP) officers of Indragiri Hilir (Inhil) Regency, Riau Province, managed to evacuate an estuarine crocodile with a length of 5.20 meters and a weight of 700 kg. This crocodile had attacked a resident of Sungai Piyai Village, Kuindra District some time ago.

Head of the Inhil District PKP Office, Eddiwan Shasby, said the 700 kg crocodile was evacuated by the reaction team from the Piyai River, Kuindra District on Sunday, February 20 yesterday morning.

The evacuation process for estuarine crocodiles took about two hours. Even though they had difficulties due to the large size of the crocodile, the evacuation was successfully carried out.

"Alhamdulillah, the operation carried out by the TRC Team of the PKP Service went smoothly. The fatigue in carrying out their duties paid off with the successful capture of crocodiles today," said Eddiwan Shasby, Monday, February 21.

Eddiwan said that although he had compiled a number of steps for evacuation, the rapid reaction team still experienced several failures during the evacuation process. In addition to the very large size of the crocodile, the presence of crocodiles often appears at five points of river flow that are difficult to reach.

Quoted from Antara, the 12-person Inhil Damkar rapid reaction team managed to evacuate and bring the estuarine crocodile to the Inhil Damkar Headquarters for safekeeping while waiting for further coordination with the Rengat BKSDA.

Eddiwan also reminded the public not to be careless and to be careful around the location where crocodiles were found because it was possible that there were other crocodiles.

According to him, several things to watch out for because of the potential for crocodiles to appear are during the rainy season and high tides.

Previously, the estuarine crocodile had attacked residents, the presence of the crocodile was troubling the community.

Nurlela, a resident of Sungai Lindu, Kuindra District, was a victim of a crocodile attack. Nurlela was dragged by the crocodile while fetching water from the river.

Although there was resistance, Nurlela ended up being injured with 24 stitches on the back, hands and legs.
