Director Of Food Holding Appointed As Head Of BPN, Ministry Of SOEs Immediately Appoints A Substitute
JAKARTA - The Minister of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN), Erick Thohir will remove Arief Prasetyo Adi as President Director of Holding BUMN Food or ID Food. The removal was carried out because President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) appointed Arief as Head of the National Food Agency (BPN).
Deputy Minister of SOEs I, Pahala Nugraha Mansury ensured that the change in the position of the President Director of ID Food will be carried out soon. However, the Ministry of SOEs as the shareholder has not yet appointed a new figure to replace Arief.
"It will be replaced (Director of ID Food). No replacement has yet been appointed," said Pahala when confirmed by reporters, Monday, February 21.
As previously reported, after the inauguration as Head of BPN, Arief said the main activities of BPN that he would intensify, namely synergy and collaboration.
This synergy and collaboration will be carried out with all relevant ministries and institutions, food stakeholders, associations, breeders, fishermen, and farmers.
"It seems that we really have to synergize, collaborate. This noble goal will not be successful if it is only carried out by the National Food Agency, of course," said Arief at the State Palace.
For your information, BPN is a new agency that has just been formed by the President through Presidential Regulation (Perpres) Number 66 of 2021 which was issued on July 29, 2021. Broadly speaking, food policy will be prepared by BPN and implemented by Perum Bulog.
In Presidential Decree No. 66 of 2021, there are nine types of food managed by BPN, namely, rice, corn, soybeans, consumption sugar, onions, poultry eggs, ruminant meat, poultry meat, and chilies.
In terms of food policy carried out by BPN, there are three regulations that serve as the legal umbrella, namely Law Number 18 of 2012 concerning food, Presidential Regulation 48 of 2016 concerning Assignments to Perum Bulog, and Presidential Regulation Number 66 of 2021 concerning BPN.
The three regulations are interrelated as the basis for implementing national food policies. Meanwhile, organizationally, BPN is divided into 3 deputies, one main secretary and assisted by supervisory elements other than the Head of BPN.
The first Deputy was Deputy for Food Availability and Stabilization whose duties were to coordinate, formulate policies, control food availability to stabilize food prices in the producer and consumer sectors.
Then, the Deputy for Food Insecurity and Nutrition in charge of formulating food insecurity and nutrition, controlling food insecurity, controlling the management of food aid, to supervising the fulfillment of food nutrition requirements and drafting to monitoring the field of food insecurity and nutrition.
Lastly is the Deputy for Consumption Diversification and Food Safety. This deputy is in charge of coordinating, formulating, determining, and implementing policies in the field of diversifying food consumption and supervising the implementation of circulating food safety standards.
