On The Involvement Of Preman, Kasatpol PP: All People Can Monitor Health Protocols
JAKARTA - Head of the Jakarta Civil Service Police Unit (Satpol PP) Arifin said that all levels of society can be involved in monitoring the implementation of health protocols. So, the goal of reducing the spread of COVID-19 can be achieved.
"Helping this, of course, anyone can. Whoever the person, remind each other to reprimand those who don't wear masks, they don't obey the COVID-19 health protocol," Arifin told reporters, Friday, September 11.
However, regarding the involvement of thugs or jeger in monitoring, Arifin said that he had not received any information on this matter. It's just hoped that everyone should be involved to remind each other.
"So its nature is to help officers who have been disciplining and enforcing the law against people who violate health protocols," he said.
Meanwhile, regarding the supervision of the implementation of health protocols, Arifin has not been able to explain. Because it is still waiting for a decision from the Governor of DKI Jakarta regarding the rules that will be applied.
"In principle, the Satpol PP has the function of enforcing regional regulations and to those who certainly support guarding and also carrying out the function of implementing discipline and law enforcement for those who violate health protocols," he said.
Previously, Deputy Chief of Police, Komjen Gatot Eddy Pramono, said that his party would collaborate with 'thugs' or respected people so that the public would apply health protocols. Especially in traditional markets, where positive cases of COVID-19 have recently emerged.
"We also hope that internal discipline is enforced in the market clusters. There are jegers there. We hope to apply discipline but still be directed by the Indonesian National Police in humanist ways," Gatot told reporters, Thursday, September 10.
