2 Years Of Action, The E-KTP Counterfeit Syndicate Reaped Hundreds Of Million Profits
JAKARTA - The Head of North Jakarta Metro Police Commissioner Sudjarwoko revealed that electronic Identity Card (KTP) counterfeiting syndicates made hundreds of millions of rupiah in profits.
"The perpetrator's profits from 2018-2020 have already been hundreds of millions of benefits," said Sudjarwoko during a press conference at the Police Headquarters, Friday.
Sudjarwoko explained that the service for making a fake ID card varies between Rp. 300 thousand to Rp. 500 thousand.
"It is said to be fake because the Population Identification Number (NIK) is not registered with the Population and Civil Registration Service," said Sudjarwoko.
Sudjarwoko said that people who are consumers of these services know that electronic ID cards are fake. "Because the shape is similar to the electronic KTP issued by Disdukcapil," he said.
Consumers are people who need jobs, take fictitious credit to those who want to get married.
The police have arrested five suspects, namely DWM and I in the role of brokers. Then suspect E acted as a forger of ID cards, while suspect FS and LA acted as providers of blanks for people who needed to make fake ID cards.
Two other suspects are still at large, namely FS and LA acting as providers of blanks.
The suspects are charged under article 96 in conjunction with article 5 letter F and letter G Law Number 24 of 2013 concerning Amendments to Law Number 23 of 2006 concerning Population Administration, with a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison.
