Don't Underestimate The Information From BMKG About Waves In The Sea

JAKARTA - The joint SAR team found Misbah (54), a victim who was dragged by the waves on Was-was Beach, East Lombok Regency, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB).

"The resident of Borok Toyang Village was found dead," said Head of the Mataram SAR Office Nanang Sigit in a written statement in Selong, Sunday, February 20, as reported by Antara.

The victim reportedly drowned on Saturday (19/2) afternoon, when he went with his friend to the scene to look for shells. Not long after, the victim was suddenly swept away by the waves and drowned, and his friend reported the incident to the authorities.

The Mataram SAR office immediately dispatched a rescue team since nightfall, conducting a search with the East Lombok SAR Unit, firefighters and local residents.

"The victim was found dead this morning at 06.30 WITA around the scene," he said.

Furthermore, the victim was immediately taken to the funeral home to be buried in the local village public cemetery and the family accepted the incident as a disaster.

With this incident, his party appealed to the public to remain alert to the impact of high waves that reached two meters in the NTB area based on information from the BMKG.

"Stay alert to the impact of the weather that occurred earlier this year," he said.
