Newcastle Share One Point With West Ham

JAKARTA - Newcastle United (NU FC) shared points with West Ham United after a 1-1 draw in the 26th Premier League match at the Olympic Stadium, London, Saturday.

The hosts took the lead through Craig Dawson before Newcastle leveled thanks to a Joe Willock goal to continue their positive streak of losing in the last six appearances.

West Ham missed the opportunity to enter the top four and stuck in fifth position with a collection of 42 points, one point behind Manchester United, while Newcastle did not move from 17th place with 22 points, according to the official Premier League website.

The visitors first created a threat three minutes after the kick off through the execution of Joelinton's free kick which could pass through the West Ham fence, unfortunately the ball was still wide on the side of the goal.

West Ham threatened back through Michail Antonio's effort to finish in Said Benrahma's cross but the ball ended up being cleared by the Newcastle defence.

Reported by Antara, Saturday, February 19, the deadlock was finally broken in the 32nd minute when Dawson headed in Aaron Cresswell's set-piece to give West Ham the lead over the visitors.

Unfortunately they failed to maintain that advantage because Willock managed to head in Ryan Fraser's cross a minute into the first half of extra time to force the two teams to halftime in a 1-1 draw.

After the interval both teams tried to score the difference, including when Newcastle had a good chance in the 65th minute through Willock who tried to finish off Joelinton's pass but his curling shot missed the mark.

Four minutes later it was West Ham's turn to threaten but Antonio's shot was also not on target and the match went on with attacks from both teams that didn't work until the final whistle sounded still with the score 1-1.
