3 Fake Police Extort Citizens In South Jakarta With Threats Of Long-barreled Guns
JAKARTA - The police arrested 3 men for extortion. In the action they use the mode as if they were police.
South Jakarta Metro Police Chief Kombes Budi Sartoni said the three fake policemen had the initials BG alias R, A, and OM. To frighten their victims, they wore police uniforms and artificial rifles.
"The suspect claims to be a fake police. So we have secured 3 suspects," Budi told reporters, Friday, September 11.
This case began when 5 young men who were driving on motorbikes were forcibly stopped by the three suspects in the Pasar Minggu area, South Jakarta. They were accused of having committed a crime so they were arrested.
"These 3 people using Ertiga's car stopped out wearing police shirts, vests, and long barrels. This is a soft gun. Immediately forced them to say that this motorbike was taken because they had committed a crime," said Budi.
Then the victims were immediately put into the car. Meanwhile, the suspect's initials A and OM carried their motorbikes. The perpetrator said that the victims would be taken to the Pasar Minggu Police, South Jakarta for legal proceedings.
However, before arriving at the police station, the victims were asked to hand over their cellphones. The reason is that the cellphone will be explored for case development.
"Suspect R in the car immediately took the cellphones of all the victims. Stating that I will check the contents of their cellphones for committing a crime," he said.
Upon arriving at the Pasar Minggu Police yard, the victims were asked to get out of the car by the suspect R. They were also asked to wait on the grounds that they would park the car first. Even though the suspect will run away.
"Then the victim checked by the Pasar Minggu Police, apparently there was no police officer who made the arrest," said Budi.
So, the victim also made a police report on the incident. A few days later, the police managed to arrest the three suspects in the Pondok Bambu area, Duren Sawit, East Jakarta.
In fact, based on the results of the investigation of the suspects' actions, this is not the first time this has been done. However, specifically in South Jakarta, they have committed two similar crimes.
"It turns out that the person concerned has done a lot at many TKPs. In the South there have been 2 TKPs, Pasar Minggu too, but cellphones," said Budi.
As a result of their actions, the three fake policemen were charged under Articles 365 and 368 of the Criminal Code with a maximum sentence of 9 years in prison.
