PSBB Is Strict In Making Traders Beaten, Anies Is Asked To Prepare For Anticipation

JAKARTA - The Indonesian Market Traders Association (Ikappi) asked DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan not to make it difficult for traders to sell when the strict PSBB was re-implemented.

Head of the Information and Communication Division of the DPP, Ikappi Reynaldi Sarijowan, explained the data about the turnover of market traders in Jakarta which has decreased by 60 to 70 percent during the pandemic in DKI Jakarta. There are around 400 thousand traditional market traders and street vendors around the market who have also experienced the impact of the corona virus outbreak so that some cannot trade anymore.

"The removal of the transition from the PSBB back to the PSBB was enough to hit traders off. DPP Ikappi encourages the government to prepare steps that are expected by traders," Reynaldi said when confirmed, Friday, September 11.

Reynaldi also refuses DKI to re-implement the odd-even system or zoning system. "We do not recommend zoning as was done at the beginning of the PSBB several months ago," he continued.

The odd-even application of the market was applied at the beginning of the transitional PSBB period in mid-June. Odd-even in the market is done by opening half the market each day. The kiosks with odd numbers operate on odd dates, while the kiosks with even numbers operate on even dates.

Unfortunately, the market odd-even implementation is not working effectively. Reynaldi said their trade turnover had plummeted.

"The zoning actually makes it more difficult for traders and the income of traders has decreased considerably," he said.

Therefore, Reynaldi asked Perumda Pasar Jaya or market managers to help minimize the transmission of COVID-19 by providing plastic insulation between traders and buyers.

"This plastic insulation has been implemented in several markets in Indonesia and the results are quite effective. This is what we will encourage to do in Jakarta, so that traders can still sell properly," said Reynaldi.
