Cluster At SMA Titian Teras Jambi Due To COVID-19 Cases Trying To Cover Up, Now 231 Students Are Infected
JAKARTA - Titian Teras Jambi's superior high school students who were exposed to COVID-19 in the past week continued to increase. Initially 73 students are now 231 students.
This means that there has been an addition of 158 students and all exposed students are now isolated in Bapelkes Pijoan, Muaro Jambi Regency.
Muaro Jambi Police Chief who is also Deputy Chair of the Muaro Jambi COVID-19 Task Force AKBP Yuyan Priatmaja said all students who were exposed to COVID-19 at Titian Teras High School, the isolation location was close to the school.
According to information, the spread of COVID-19 cases at Titian Teras High School was apparently covered up by the school. As a result, the handling was delayed, causing two hundreds of school students to be confirmed positive.
"We regret that Titian Teras High School was not open in providing initial information," said Muaro Jambi Police Chief AKBP Yuyan Priatmaja, Friday, February 18, quoted from Antara.
Last February 7, there was only one student with COVID-19 at the school. However, the school did not immediately report to the task force and the positive student was only sent home from the dormitory.
"The school only reported to the task force on February 11, and then on February 12, we immediately traced approximately 680 students," said Yuyan.
After the PCR test was carried out, it was known that there were 73 students who were confirmed positive and now 231 students, due to the school being late in reporting and seeming to cover up the presence of students who were positive for COVID-19.
According to Yuyan, if the school is quick to make a report, the handling can be done faster.
The school only opened after the Governor of Jambi did an inspection, so the results were large. In fact, according to him, should have been reported sooner, so that it can be handled as soon as possible. However, after entering the new principal, it was only reported.
For students who were previously negative for antigen swabs, a PCR test has also been carried out. If later there are still students whose PCR results are positive, Yuyan said the COVID-19 task force would recommend that schools be locked down and his party would check with the school.
