Jakarta PSBB Again, Will Grab And Gojek Be Prohibited From Transporting Passengers?
JAKARTA - Ride-hailing companies Grab and Gojek have not made a decision regarding the re-enactment of Large-Scale Social Restrictions (PSBB) by the DKI Jakarta City Government. The two companies will also prepare to prepare new operational plans.
Head of Government Affairs Grab Indonesia, Uun Airnurrofiq, said that Grab already knew about the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government's decision. Now they are waiting for official directions for ride hailing from the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government
"Currently, we still have not received an official statement regarding the Government's decision regarding ride hailing operations during the total PSBB," said Uun in a statement, Thursday, September 10.
In line with Grab, Gojek is still waiting for the DKI Jakarta Governor's regulation regarding PSBB on 14 September. Even so, Gojek's Chief of Corporate Affairs, Nila Marita, said he was ready to comply with central and regional regulations.
"Since the beginning, Gojek has readily adapted its operations according to the conditions and needs of the community in facing the pandemic by requiring the entire ecosystem, including driver partners, to always prioritize the Keep Health, Cleanliness and Security (J3K) protocol," said Nila.
In terms of technology, continued Nila, Gojek's geofencing arrangements can ensure that services cannot operate in areas that are designated as tight control areas on a local scale (red zone).
"We also complement these innovations with various initiatives that can support community productivity while still paying attention to preventive procedures as a whole," Nila continued.
When the PSBB took effect in early April, Grab and Gojek disabled two-wheeled transportation services. The motorcycle symbol was lost in the applications of the two companies.
Gojek and Grab companies reactivated GoRide and GrabBike services on June 8, 2020, after DKI Governor Anies Baswedan issued Governor Regulation Number 51 of 2020, one of which allows online motorcycle taxis to bring passengers back.
