Medan City Government Holds Bulk Cooking Oil Market Operation In Central Market
MEDAN - The Medan City Government, North Sumatra, cooperated with PT Perkebunan Nusantara IV to hold a bulk cooking oil market operation for Rp11,500 per liter at the Pasar Center.
"We have prepared 5,000 liters for this market operation. Every citizen can buy a maximum of five liters," said the Head of the Medan City Trade Service, Damikrot Harahap in Medan, quoted by Antara, Thursday, February 17.
The cheap cooking oil market is being held again, he continued, because there is still a shortage of this commodity in the market, both traditional, wholesale, retail and modern markets in Medan City.
To note, the Minister of Trade Regulation No. 6/2022 concerning Determination of the Highest Retail Price (HET) for Cooking Oil is effective February 1, 2022 for bulk oil of Rp. 11,500 per liter, simple packaging of Rp. 13,500 per liter, and premium of Rp. 14,000.
"The fact is that in traditional markets, wholesalers, retailers, and modern markets are a bit scarce. Whereas according to producers, cooking oil production is normal. This condition encourages us to resume market operations," he said.
Until now, his party has carried out market operations in the last two months almost 100 tons of cooking oil to the public at 30 traditional market points in Medan City.
"Yesterday, at the PTPN IV Board of Directors' Office, a cheap market was held which provided 6,100 liters for the people of Medan Maimun," explained Damikrot.
People in Medan Kota Sub-district are enthusiastic about using market operations in an orderly manner and are lining up to buy cooking oil according to HET at this Market Center.
"It is difficult for us to get cooking oil at cheap prices. In this market operation, we can buy cooking oil up to five liters according to the stipulated price," said Elsa, a buyer of bulk cooking oil.
