Police Take Firm Action On 9 ODOL Violators On The Denpasar-Gilimanuk Line

TABANAN - The Badung Police Traffic Unit, Bali, took firm action against nine violators of Over Dimension Over Load (ODOL) for the Denpasar City route to Gilimanuk.

"We have imposed a ticket on these nine ODOLs because the overload is quite dangerous for other vehicles on the route," said Tabanan Traffic Police Head AKP Kanisius Franata, quoted by Antara, Thursday, February 17.

He said that the vehicles that were targeted for action were goods transporting vehicles, especially trucks that had more loads than the required carrying capacity.

According to him, controlling the Over Dimensional Over Load (ODOL) trucks is a serious concern from the government because it is alleged that accidents often occur as a result of the carrying capacity of vehicles that carry goods.

In addition, vehicles that are loaded more than the required carrying capacity and carrying capacity can endanger other road users.

According to AKP Kanisius ODOL can also cause rapid damage to road infrastructure, bridges and the effect of air pollution because more and more vehicle fumes are produced by vehicles with more loads.

"We hope that transportation service entrepreneurs and drivers of goods transport vehicles comply with government regulations and also contribute to creating the Traffic Security Service for the sake of mutual safety by obeying traffic regulations," he said.

Previously, the Badung Bali Police also carried out patrols and gave strict action to four-wheel and six-wheeled drivers who were found to be driving over capacity (ODOL).

Badung Traffic Police Head AKP Aan Sahputra emphasized that violators will be subject to strict sanctions in the form of ticketing in accordance with Article 307 of Law No. 22 of 2009 Traffic Violations with a 2 month imprisonment and a fine of IDR 500,000.

"We hope that transporters and drivers will not have an impact on traffic jams and accidents so that they do not interfere with the activities and mobility of other road users and can create Kamseltibcarlantas," he said.
