Riau Governor Positive For COVID-19 For The Second Time
PEKANBARU - Riau Governor, Syamsuar, was declared infected with COVID-19 again after carrying out a routine polymerase chain reaction (PCR) swab examination at the Arifin Achmad Hospital, Riau.
The spokesman for the Riau COVID-19 Task Force, Surya Hajar, confirmed this. He said Syamsuar was confirmed positive for the Coronavirus but without any symptoms. Currently, Syamsuar is self-isolating at his residence.
Previously, Syamsuar was confirmed positive for COVID-19 in December 2020.
Based on the examination of a special team of doctors from the Arifin Achmad Hospital, it was stated that the Riau Governor's physical condition and examination were in normal condition.
"On the same day we carried out laboratory tests and X-rays, all of which were in normal condition", said Surya, quoted by Antara on Thursday, February 17.
Surya admitted that he could not confirm where Syamsuar had contracted the virus because his agenda was often out of town.
"But the governor doesn't have any complaints. In the morning he also always jogs and has a booster vaccine", said Surya.
When contacted by telephone, Syamsuar confirmed that he had no symptoms. The senses of taste and smell are still functioning properly.
"There are no symptoms, it feels like it's not just COVID", he said.
