Reflecting On The Parigi Moutong Demonstration, The National Police Propam Proposes Restrictions On The Use Of Guns During Security
JAKARTA - The Head of the Propam Police Division, Inspector General Ferdy Sambo, proposed limiting the use of firearms (senpi) when securing demonstrations.
The proposal was conveyed during the Analysis and Evaluation (Anev) of Kamtibmas with the National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo and other Bhayangkara Corps officials.
"There are restrictions on the use of weapons to protect demonstrations," said Sambo in a video uploaded to the @divpropampolri account, Thursday, February 17.
With this restriction, said Sambo, it can prevent unwanted things from happening. For example, the death of one of the mass demonstrations in Parigi Moutong Regency, Central Sulawesi.
Where, in a series of incidents, it is suspected that plainclothes police officers opened fire.
"Don't let the Kendari incident happen again, the Parigi incident where all the plainclothes members were shot," said Sambo.
In fact, there must be a rule for members who secure demonstrations to wear uniforms. The goal is that all actions taken by members of the Police can be monitored properly.
"They may participate in security demonstrations but must wear clothes with the same attributes," said Sambo.
