COVID-19 Update As Of February 17: 63.956 New Cases, Breaking 5 Million Cases In Total

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Health (Kemenkes) released the latest additional positive cases of COVID-19 as of today. A total of 572.855 specimens were examined with the result of 63.956 new positive cases of COVID-19. Today's new cases are the highest during the pandemic.

"The total accumulation of positive cases since COVID-19 was discovered in Indonesia has reached 5.030.002 people and active cases have increased by 24.678 to 469.868 cases," said Ministry of Health data, Thursday, February 17.

Today's recovered cases increased by 39.072 cases, bringing the total to 4.414.306 recovered people. Then, there were 206 positive confirmed cases and a total of 145.828 people.

The province with the highest new cases was in West Java with 16.251 cases and a total of 887.313 cases. Followed by East Java with 8.977 new cases with a total of 469.108 cases. DKI Jakarta has 8.536 new cases and a total of 1.103.889 cases. Then, Banten with 6.426 new cases and a total of 230.458 cases.

The province with the most recovered cases today is DKI Jakarta with an increase of 18.961 recovered cases. Followed by East Java with an additional 5.987 recovered cases, Banten with an additional 4.310 recovered cases, and West Java with an additional 3.130 recovered cases.

In addition, the number of specimens that have been examined using RT-PCR, TCM, and antigens has reached 79.577.733.

"Positive results per number of people examined or the positivity rate of people this week is 16.04 percent," he wrote.

The number of people suspected of contracting COVID-19 or currently categorized as suspected cases is 41.237 people. Currently, 34 provinces have had cases of COVID-19.

So far, 138.067.416 people have received the first dose of COVID-19 vaccination and 138.280.959 people have received the second dose of vaccination. While the third dose of vaccination was 7.730.486. Meanwhile, the target for vaccination in Indonesia is 208.265.720 people.
