Health Office: Delta And Omicron Variants Of COVID-19 Detected In Balikpapan

BALIKPAPAN - The Delta and Omicron variants of the COVID-19 virus have been detected in Balikpapan City, East Kalimantan Province, said Balikpapan City Health Service Head Andi Sri Juliarty.

"There have been found Delta and Omicron variants, so that currently the virus that spreads is mixed, there are Omicron and Delta variants," said Andi Sri Juliarty, quoted by Antara, Thursday, February 17.

The results of the WGS Laboratory Tests from the Puslitabangkes and SGTF, as well as the Labkesda of East Kalimantan Province, he explained, the results were that in Balikpapan there was already an Omicron variant, and there was still a Delta variant.

The people of Balikpapan City were again asked to stay at home and tighten the implementation of health protocols, including using layered masks when outside their homes.

The Balikpapan City Government also urges all people, especially the elderly (elderly) who have not been vaccinated to immediately vaccinate against COVID-19.

"Cases are increasing, you must be vigilant, wear two layers of masks and immediately vaccinate people who have not been vaccinated against the coronavirus," she said.

"Three elderly COVID-19 patients who also had comorbidities and it was known that all had not been vaccinated died," she added

The case of the death of the positive coronavirus patient was one patient at Kanujoso Djatiwibowo Hospital, one patient at the Regional General Hospital or RSUD Beriman, and one patient at Pertamina Hospital.
