Floods In Kampung Melayu Can't Be Pumped Because Ciliwung River Is Still Overflowing
JAKARTA - A number of RWs in Kampung Melayu Village, East Jakarta are still inundated by floods since last night until this morning. The flood occurred after the rain that had been pouring since Tuesday, February 16 in the afternoon until the evening.
The village head of Kampung Melayu, Angga Herjuno said that the flood had inundated four RWs, namely RW 004, 005, 007, 008. As of 11.00 WIB, the water level had reached 60 centimeters.
"Currently the water level is 60 centimeters in 4 RWs on the banks of the Ciliwung River," Angga said when contacted, Thursday, February 17.
Angga said that the flooding was not only caused by high intensity rain, but also by the flow of water from upstream that flowed into the Ciliwung River and ran over to residential areas.
On Tuesday, February 16 at 18:40 WIB yesterday, the Katulampa Dam was in Alert 3 status because it was raining in the Bogor area, West Java. After that, the water flows downstream and causes the Ciliwung River to overflow.
"The runoff from the Ciliwung River began to reach Kampung Melayu from dawn to its peak at around 07.00 WIB today. The water level this morning was up to 130 centimeters," said Angga. Currently, no residents have evacuated. Angga also admitted that his party had not been able to pump pumps to reduce flooding in the 4 RWs. Given, until now the Ciliwung River is still overflowing.
"Suction cannot be carried out because the water level is high. If we suck it up, the water will come back again. So, at this time we are preparing PPSU at the Water Management Sub-dept. the rest of the puddle," he added.
