Fundo, Google's New Application To Meet And Greet YouTubers With Their Fans

JAKARTA - Google's development team, namely Area 120, launched a paid streaming application Fundo. This application allows creators to create meet and greet events between creator content and fans virtually.

This platform allows content creators such as YouTubers and other influencers to meet and greet their fans. Fundo also gives creators the opportunity to create their own virtually free show or accept paid viewers.

"Fundo, is a platform for creating virtual and interactive meetings. Content creators and fans can meet face to face and open a live chat," said General Manager of Fundo, John Gregg in a Google Blog post, Thursday, September 10.

Gregg admitted, in the last year, many activities had to shift to online media and become virtual. However, Gregg confirmed that he did not develop Fundo specifically to anticipate the COVID-19 pandemic.

Fundo's original aim, is to provide an interactive space between content creators of YouTube and influencers and their fans to always be connected. Where, the inspiration from the creation of Fundo, during the VidCon moment in 2018.

"Fundo is an online meet-and-greet service for creator content and makes it possible to meet your favorite fans from anywhere, using a mobile phone or computer," said Gregg.

Launching from The Verge, Fundo's service is still in its initial testing phase. Even so, according to the Variety report, there are a number of YouTubers, including Jessii Vee and KreekCraft who have started using Fundo to meet and greet their fans.

Through his Twitter account, KreekCraft also tweeted a video of what the Fundo service looks like. Including the price of donations or admission tickets for fans to be able to join the event.

Currently, Fundo services are only available in the United States (US) and Canada. It is not yet known when Google will release Fundo globally.
