JAKARTA - Indonesian President Joko Widodo appreciates the achievement of vaccinations that have been carried out in Semarang Regency, Central Java, which reached more than 70 percent of both the first and second doses.
"I think the percentage of the first dose is above 90 percent, the second dose is above 80 percent, the elderly are already high. I think Semarang Regency is very good," said the President while reviewing the virtual implementation of vaccinations in 12 provinces, from the Bogor Presidential Palace, West Java, reported by Antara, Thursday, February 17.
While reviewing the implementation of vaccinations in Semarang Regency, the President received a report from the Regent of Semarang, Ngesti Nugraha.
The Regent of Semarang said that the current target for vaccination is 1,003 doses for children aged 6-11 years and 168 booster doses. The number of health workers who carried out the vaccination was 71 people.
The Regent of Semarang conveyed that the development of vaccination in Semarang Regency so far has reached 98.02 percent or 814,358 for the first dose. Meanwhile, the second dose of vaccination has reached 80.7 percent or 670,459.
To date, vaccinations for children have reached 93.69 percent or 89,273, and 83.24 percent for the elderly for the first dose and 69.92 percent or 72,626 for the second dose.
"Then for the booster vaccination to date it has reached 39,701 or 4.78 percent," explained the Regent of Semarang.
He said that his party together with the TNI/Polri and various other parties were jointly accelerating the acceleration of vaccination both in bulk and pick-up the ball. In each puskesmas, 3 vaccination teams have been formed that go to villages and sub-districts, in collaboration with sub-district heads, village heads, village heads with the support of community and religious leaders. The Regent of Semarang also reported that the current stock of vaccines in Semarang Regency is still low. enough. If the stock runs low, it will immediately coordinate with the provincial health office.
Hearing the report, President Jokowi conveyed to the Regent of Semarang to immediately complete vaccinations for the elderly and children so that all could be protected from COVID-19.
"I really appreciate the Semarang Regency, which has a very high percentage of vaccine injections and I also really appreciate the cooperation between the regional government and the Kodim, with the Polres, so that vaccination can be carried out quickly," the President explained.
On that occasion the President also had the chance to virtually greet two children who were participating in vaccination activities in Semarang Regency. The President advised children to maintain health protocols, especially to always wear masks when participating in face-to-face learning activities.
