Suppressing The Spread Of COVID-19, Tightening New A3 Prisoners Admissions In Rutans And Prisons

JAKARTA - The DKI Jakarta Regional Office of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights (Kemenkumham) tightened the SOP for admitting new prisoners A3 at the Detention Center (Rutan) and Correctional Institutions (Lapas) in Jakarta. This was done in line with the high number of confirmed cases of COVID-19.

"We will place the new prisoners in an isolation room for 14 days and will be supervised by officers so that there is no direct contact with other WBP," said Head of the DKI Jakarta Regional Office (Kemenkumham), Ibnu Chuldun when contacted by VOI, Thursday, February 17.

Meanwhile, related to minimizing the spread of COVID-19 at the Penitentiary UPT, his party has opened information technology-based correctional services such as online visits for correctional inmates (WBP), criminal case trials, supervision and guidance.

"Discipline in implementing health protocols such as 5M and 3T is an important thing that is always socialized, especially to Correctional Inmates (WBP) to prevent the spread of COVID-19," he said.

Confirmed separately, Head of Central Jakarta Class 1A Detention Center Fonika Affandi said that his party had prepared an isolation place for new prisoners A3 with a capacity of 30 inmates.

"Our space is limited. Usually we accept new prisoners once every two weeks or once a month. They usually send 30 to 50 new prisoners A3 once," said Fonika when contacted by VOI.

The SOP mechanism for new detainees A3 who is sent to the Salemba Rutan will follow the prokes procedure that has been set in a number of detention centers and prisons in Jakarta.

"While we are still receiving new A3 prisoners during the COVID-19 pandemic. Our health workers are ready, they are checked for body temperature, swab, data check, hand washing, health check, bathing, recording data in the registration is appropriate or not and entered into isolation room. Supporting facilities have been prepared such as clothes, mattresses and separate rooms from other prisoners, "he said.
