Dozens Of Health Workers In Kudus Exposed To COVID-19

KUDUS - As many as 50 health workers from several hospitals in Kudus Regency, Central Java, were exposed to the corona virus disease (COVID-19) which is thought to have come from a family transmission cluster.

"Of the dozens of health workers who were exposed, around 30 health workers are from the Mardi Rahayu Hospital," said the Kudus Regent Hartopo accompanied by the Daily Executive Head of the Health Service Andini Aridewi, quoted by Antara, Wednesday, February 16.

He revealed that health workers who were exposed to COVID-19 had undergone self-isolation because their symptoms were relatively mild.

All referral hospitals for handling COVID-19 in Kudus Regency, he said, have prepared themselves to face the possibility of a spike in corona cases, one of which is preparing treatment rooms.

For now, he said, the bed occupancy rate for patients in hospitals is around 45 percent of the available beds, so the number of beds for corona patients is still safe.

"Even if there is a spike in cases, the hospital will automatically add more inpatient rooms," he said.

The daily executive of the Head of the Kudus Regency Health Office, Andini Aridewi, asked all referral hospitals for handling COVID-19 patients in Kudus Regency to increase the capacity of isolation beds, in anticipation of a spike in cases.

"In the past week, all hospitals have been trying to increase their bed capacity, considering the number of corona cases in Kudus Regency continues to grow. Meanwhile, the number of corona cases is currently 293," he said.

Regarding 50 health workers who were exposed to COVID-19, he said, some have recovered because their symptoms are mild, so they are quite self-isolating. Meanwhile, the transmission is from family clusters.

Director of the Mardi Rahayu Kudus Hospital, Pujianto, confirmed that 30 health workers were exposed to the corona virus, so they underwent self-isolation because their symptoms were mild and asymptomatic.

"We make sure that we are not exposed because of the task of caring for corona patients, but because of exposure from the family environment or contact with other people," he said.

The findings of the dozens of health workers, he said, were from the results of the examination when there was close contact and those who were known to have symptoms. Of the 1,300 health workers, at the Mardi Rahayu Hospital there were 30 people who were exposed.
