Completely Recovered From COVID-19, Indonesia Patriots Squad Focuses On Preparing For IBL 2022 Continuation

JAKARTA – The Indonesian Patriots basketball team has fully recovered from COVID-19. They can also focus on training to be ready to welcome the 2022 IBL continuation.

The news was conveyed by team manager Jamin Mattotoran on Wednesday, February 16. He confirmed that all players and officials were negative.

"Both the players and all the officials. Thank you for the prayers of all the people," said Jamin in the statement received.

The squad that became the forerunner of the Indonesian national team was hit by the COVID-19 virus storm ahead of the second series of IBL 2022 which took place in Bandung.

A total of 18 of their personnel were exposed to COVID-19, both players and team officials. They were then quarantined.

The spike in cases caused the Indonesia Patriots to cancel joining other teams in the second series of quarantine bubbles. As a result they have not been able to play a single match during the Bandung series.

After the Indonesian Patriots, the virus then attacked players at other clubs. The problem forced the IBL organizers to temporarily postpone the competition until early next month.

Jamin said that during the quarantine the players and officials kept themselves busy with independent training. Meanwhile, to kill boredom and maintain communication between players, a zoom meeting is held every night.

"Many lessons were learned during the quarantine period yesterday," he said.

After Series II in Bandung, IBL will continue the next series to Jogjakarta.
