Garut Deputy Regent: 11 COVID-19 Patients Indicated Omicron
GARUT - Garut Deputy Regent Helmi Budiman revealed that he had received reports of 11 COVID-19 patients indicated being exposed to the Omicron variant, based on the results of laboratory tests.
"After the lab in Jakarta, in the special lab there were 11 omicrons, but this is still a leak," said Helmi Budiman, quoted by Antara, Wednesday, February 16.
Helmi said a team from the Garut Health Service conducted sample tests on 17 positive COVID-19 patients to a laboratory in Jakarta, the results of which were reported to lead to the results of the omicron variant.
This information, he said, was only an initial report and then waited for the exact results so that it would be a concern and watch out for its spread by complying with health protocols.
"I haven't got any authentic data," said the medical graduate.
The Deputy Regent of Garut said that the omicron variant can be said to be more benign when compared to other variants, such as the delta which has already spread in the community.
Even though the variants are benign, he said, they still have to be careful because they are worried that the two variants will combine, which in the end the symptoms can be more dangerous for the sufferer.
"So by merging these two dangerous viruses, it could be that the spread is quite expansionary, the death rate is also quite large," he said.
