KPU Commissioner Evi Is Positive For COVID-19, Keeps Working To Monitor Pilkada Online

JAKARTA - Chairman of the General Election Commission (KPU) Arief Budiman emphasized that the work of commissioner Evi Novida Ginting Manik was not disturbed even though he was positive for COVID-19. Evi can still be involved in ensuring the simultaneous election stages.

"No (disrupting the stages). Mrs. Evi can still carry out her work online. So, in our meetings, Mrs. Evi continues to participate online," said Arief at the Metro Jaya Police Headquarters, South Jakarta, Thursday, September 10.

This afternoon, according to Arief, Evi participated in the hearing (RDP) with the DPR regarding the 2020 Pilkada stages, namely the implementation of the COVID-19 protocol, the stages of nomination, and updating data.

Arief said, Evi was confirmed positive for COVID-19 after undergoing a swab test on Monday, September 7 yesterday. Evi's test results came out on Wednesday, September 9 and tested positive for the coronavirus.

Evi is said to be in the category of asymptomatic COVID-19 cases. "Positive but without symptoms. So, no pain, no heat, no cough, no colds, just nothing," said Arief.

Currently, Evi is undergoing independent isolation at home. During his isolation, Arief said that Evi was still working to participate in all KPU activities online.

In addition, today the KPU building on Jalan Imam Bonjol, Central Jakarta, is also sterilized using disinfectant liquid.

"Today's office will be sterilized tomorrow. The employees are asked to work from home," said Arief.

Recently, Evi has participated in a number of activities, such as the development of the registration stages for the 2020 election candidate pairs on Monday, September 7. In addition, Evi also had time to visit Medan.

"Mrs. Evi only went to Medan and Jakarta, she stayed in Medan. We have done tracing and carried out an inspection," said Arief.

Evi is a KPU commissioner in charge of technical matters. He is in charge of coordinating the nomination of election participants, voting, counting votes, and recapitulating vote counts, determining results and documenting election and election results, and other technical activities.
