Manchester United Vs Brighton 2-0: The Portuguese Duo Becomes The Red Devils Victory Hero

JAKARTA - Manchester United (MU) won 2-0 over Brighton & Hove Albion in the postponed match week 18 of the English Premier League at Old Trafford, Wednesday morning. Portuguese duo Cristiano Ronaldo and Bruno Fernandes scored two goals for the Red Devils.

Launching Antara, this additional three points brought MU up to fourth position in the English Premier League standings with 43 points. Meanwhile, Brighton are stuck in ninth with 33 points.

Brighton played quite brave from the start. They got a chance in the 5th minute by taking advantage of an error from Anthony Elanga. Jakub Moder fired a shot, unfortunately David de Gea was able to stop him.

Brighton recorded greater possession than United during the first half. Graham Potter's squad controlled the game, but were unable to score.

Another opportunity came in the 39th minute. Moder tried to deflect Joel Veltman's ball into the United goal, but De Gea was the hero again and made a brilliant save.

MU did not provide much resistance, they recorded shooting three times and once on target. The first half ended with a 0-0 draw.

After the break. MU opened the scoring in the 51st minute through Cristiano Ronaldo's hard kick after receiving Scott McTominay's pass in front of the penalty box. The score changed to 1-0.

This goal also ended Ronaldo's goal drought in United's last six matches.

Brighton's chances of equalizing were getting smaller after the referee gave a yellow card to Lewis Dunk who tackled Elanga hard in the 52nd minute. However, after checking VAR, the referee changed his decision and awarded a red card.

The superior number of players makes the Red Devils even more vicious. In the 65th minute, Bruno Fernandes' cross was met by Ronaldo who then turned the ball towards the Brighton goal. Goalkeeper Robert Sanchez had parried before the ball hit the post.

Towards the end of the game, MU added to its advantage in injury time or to be precise in the 97th minute. Paul Pogba's free kick from the middle of the field led to Bruno Fernandes who then calmly beat Sanchez. Brighton's 2-0 score was impossible to catch in the remaining minutes and MU had the right to pocket the three points.
