Emphasizes Bayern To Continue Attacking Against RB Salzburg Despite Losing 4-2 To Bochum, Nagelsmann: I Won't Change My Philosophy
JAKARTA - Coach Julian Nagelsmann insists Bayern Munich will not change their attacking way when they visit RB Salzburg in the first leg of their Champions League last-16 tie on Thursday.
Bayern lost 2-4 away to Bochum on Saturday 12 February, they conceded four goals in the first half. The defeat sparked criticism from the media for Nagelsmann's attacking tactics.
"I'm not going to change my philosophy, my approach," the German coach said in his pre-match press conference quoted by Reuters on Tuesday. "There is a certain structure in our squad, although there are a few players out."
"The funny thing about football is that these discussions only arise when you lose. In our win over RB Leipzig, we had one defender less than we did in the loss to Bochum, but somehow everyone said we were too offensive against Bochum. ."
"In the end, it's all about the way you play, not the system. I'm not going to change my approach based on what the media writes about us."
At the conference Nagelsmann praised Salzburg sporting director Christoph Freund.
"He was an extraordinary sporting director who had a keen eye for finding talent," said Nagelsmann. "Red Bull will be aggressive in their approach to this game, which is a good thing."
"They have a very good team, with a lot of young talent. It would be against their DNA if they played defensively."
The Austrian champions claimed a 1-0 win over Sevilla in the final group game to progress to the Champions League last 16 for the first time.

We will be playing in front of 30,000 fans, which we haven't done in a while. It will be a great #UCL night." #packmas #MiaSanMia pic.twitter.com/qY6tHOoNPY
