Jakarta PSBB Again 14 September, Odd-Absolutely Eliminated

JAKARTA - DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan canceled the odd-even application when he decided to return the PSBB period to the beginning of the pandemic, starting Monday, September 14.

"We will temporarily eliminate odd-even," said Anies at DKI City Hall, Central Jakarta, Wednesday, September 9.

Even though the odd-even application was eliminated, Anies said it did not mean that its citizens could travel freely by private vehicles. Because, currently the control of the COVID-19 outbreak is tighter than before.

In addition, Anies also plans to again limit movement in and out of Jakarta. At the time of the PSBB, DKI had issued an entry and exit permit. However, Anies admitted that this did not work optimally.

"Ideally, we can limit the movement outside Jakarta to a minimum. But, in reality this is not easy if it is enforced only by Jakarta," said Anies.

Anies said that tightening the entry and exit of Jakarta requires coordination with the central government, especially the Ministry of Transportation, as well as local governments in the Jabodetabek area.

"God willing, tomorrow we will coordinate with the implementation of the tightening phase that we will do on the next day," Anies explained.

Anies said that the initial PSBB decision was taken at the Task Force meeting this afternoon. It is deemed necessary to tighten residents' activities given the increasing number of positive COVID-19 patients.

"So looking at this emergency, there are not many options for Jakarta residents except pulling the emergency brake as soon as possible," said Anies.

Currently, the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government is preparing regulations for the preparation of the PSBB as it was at the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic. Later, there are 11 essential areas that will continue to run, but their implementation will still be minimized.
