Brazil Promises Vaccines Distribution To All Its Citizens By 2021
JAKARTA - Brazilian Health Ministry official Eduardo Pazuello revealed that the COVID-19 vaccine will be available to all Brazilian people in January 2021. This was announced in line with the cooperation that the government has made with several vaccine-producing companies in the world.
"We have entered into a cooperation contract with the vaccine manufacturer and the estimate is that the vaccine will arrive for us from January next year. Therefore, we will start vaccinating everyone," said Eduardo Pazuello.
Even so, it did not specify which vaccines would be distributed to the Brazilian people. At present, Brazil is only known to have become a field of money for vaccine makers as it has been named as one of the countries worst hit by the COVID-19 storm.
It is noted that the funds allocated by the policy owner reached around 348 million dollars or the equivalent of Rp. 5 trillion to fund 100 million doses of vaccine. The vaccine is currently being developed by the University of Oxford and AstraZeneca. This was done so that later the COVID-19 vaccine will be produced in Brazil.
Not only that. The Sao Paulo State government is also working on a potential vaccine collaboration with China's Sinovac Biotech. This cooperation is carried out in order to curb the spread of COVID-19.
However, Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro remains on his side of downplaying COVID-19. Then, he will not force the Brazilian people to be vaccinated. "Nothing can force anyone to get a vaccine."
