Jakarta PSBB Again, Restaurants-Cafes Can't Eat On The Place

JAKARTA - DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan has re-implemented Large-Scale Social Restrictions (PSBB) as a few months ago when the COVID-19 pandemic began.

Starting Monday, September 14, all dining establishments, such as restaurants and cafes, are still allowed to operate, but visitors are no longer allowed to eat on the spot.

"Food businesses, restaurants, restaurants, cafes are allowed to continue operating, but they are not allowed to receive visitors to eat on site," said Anies at the City Hall of DKI, Central Jakarta, Wednesday, September 9.

Anies said, many of the transmission of COVID-19 cases occurred when people ate together at eating places. Without wearing a mask, visitors often eat while chatting with familiar people.

Therefore, all eating places in DKI are currently only allowed to serve orders for delivery or food to be wrapped and brought home.

"So, orders are taken, orders are delivered, but they do not eat at the location, because we find that in these places there are interactions that lead to infection," explained Anies.

Anies said that the initial PSBB decision was taken at the Task Force meeting this afternoon. It is deemed necessary to tighten residents' activities given the increasing number of positive COVID-19 patients.

"So looking at this emergency, there are not many options for Jakarta residents except pulling the emergency brake as soon as possible," said Anies.

Currently, the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government is preparing regulations for the preparation of the PSBB as it was at the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic. Later, there are 11 essential areas that will continue to run, but their implementation will still be minimized.
