Commissioner Of Garuda Indonesia, Who Is The Younger Brother Of Conglomerate Chairul Tanjung, Will Be Investigated By The AGO In The Case Of Alleged Corruption In Aircraft Charter
JAKARTA - Investigators of the Junior Attorney General for Special Crimes (Jampidsus) The Attorney General's Office examined the younger brother of conglomerate Chairul Tanjung, namely Chairal Tanjung (CT) as a witness in the investigation into the alleged corruption case of leasing an airplane to PT Garuda Indonesia in 2011-2021, Monday, February 14.
"CT as the Commissioner of PT Garuda Indonesia (Persero) Tbk was investigated regarding the mechanism for the procurement of aircraft," said the Head of the Attorney General's Legal Information Center (Kapuspenkum) Leonard Eben Ezer Simanjuntak, in a written statement.
In addition to examining Chairal Tanjung, investigators also examined four other witnesses, namely Sigit Muhartono as Director of Cargo of PT Garuda Indonesia in 2017, I Wayan Susena as Director of Engineering in 2017.
Then, Linggasari Suharso as Director of Human Resources and General Affairs in 2017 and Capten Triyanto Moeharsono as VP of Operation Planning and Control in 2009. The four witnesses were examined the same as Chairal, regarding the aircraft procurement mechanism.
"Witness examination is carried out to provide information for the purpose of investigating a criminal case that he heard, saw and experienced in order to find legal facts about the corruption that occurred," said Leonard.
The Attorney General's Office has raised the status of the alleged corruption case of PT Garuda Indonesia (Persero) Tbk, to the general investigation stage on Wednesday, January 19.
Attorney General Sanitiar Burhanuddin said that the investigation would progress, not only regarding the ATR 72-600, but also related to the procurement of Bombardier, Airbus, Boeing, and Rolls Royce.
