56 Umrah Pilgrims From Belitung Fly To The Holy Land
TANJUNG PANDAN - The office of the Ministry of Religion of Belitung Regency, Bangka Belitung Islands Province, noted that 56 people left for the Holy Land to perform Umrah, which was previously delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
"The departing Umrah pilgrims are the 2020 congregations whose departures have been delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic," said Head of the Hajj and Umrah Organizing Section, Belitung Ministry of Religion Office, Suyanto in Tanjung Pandan, as reported by Antara, Monday, February 14.
According to him, the congregation came from the Umrah Travel Organizer (PPIU) Pelita Wisata Belitung consisting of 18 male pilgrims and 38 female pilgrims.
He said the congregation departed from Belitung for Jakarta on Tuesday, February 8 and then departed from Jakarta to Medina on Wednesday, February 9.
"So that currently the pilgrims are carrying out a series of Umrah worship there for approximately 12 days," he said. Suyanto added, when they arrived in Jakarta, the pilgrims immediately carried out a PCR examination and stayed for one night at the hotel before leaving for Medina.
According to him, the series of Umrah activities in Medina will last for 12 days.
Then when they return from Medina they will again undergo a seven-day quarantine period in Jakarta before heading to Belitung.
"This is done to anticipate the transmission or spread of COVID-19 in accordance with the provisions of the Hajj and Umrah pilgrimages regulated by the Ministry of Religion of the Republic of Indonesia during the COVID-19 pandemic," he said.
