JAKARTA – The world's most famous Non-Fungible Token (NFT) digital art, CryptoPunks, is reportedly selling for hundreds of billions of rupiah. NFT CryptoPunk number #5822 has been sold for 24 million US dollars (approximately IDR 343.8 billion) in Ethereum (ETH).

Cryptopotato reports that NFT continues to attract the attention of the upper class, because this time it was CryptoPunk who broke the previous record in terms of ETH and USD values. Deepak Thapliyal, CEO of Chain, spent nearly $24 million buying CryptoPunk #5822.

For information, CryptoPunks which was developed in 2017 has become one of the most popular NFTs in the NFT universe. CryptoPunks is an image collection consisting of 10,000 items and algorithmically generated 24*24, 8bit, and pixel style.

The boom of the NFT industry over the past year has resulted in many NFT CryptoPunks transactions that are worth millions of dollars. CryptoPunks itself consists of different image characters such as humans, aliens, monkeys, zombies, and so on.

Deepak Thapliyal who is the CEO of blockchain infrastructure company Chain has purchased CryptoPunk #5822 with the highest payout of 8,000 Ethereum which is worth 24 million US dollars or IDR 343.8 billion.

Thapliyal explained that he used leverage through CompoundFinance to buy digital art. It should be noted that Thapliyal purchased the rarest CryptoPunks item with an alien image. Basically, this alien CryptoPunk is only nine items out of a total of 10,000 NFT CryptoPunk.

In addition to members of the crypto community, NFT CryptoPunks has also attracted a number of leading names and companies from outside the industry including multinational financial services company Visa which purchased one of the CryptoPunk items for $160,000 (equivalent to IDR 2.2 billion).
