RI National Archives Free Recovery Of Flood Victims Family Archives
JAKARTA - The National Archives of the Republic of Indonesia (ANRI) provides a free service for restoring family archives damaged by floods in the Jakarta-Bogor-Depok-Tangerang-Bekasi (Jabodetabek) area.
"We have started to open this service from today until it is unlimited. It is free of charge for this restoration effort," said Director of Preservation of ANRI, Dr Kandar MAP in Jakarta, Thursday, January 2.
The free archive recovery service is intended for family archives such as birth certificates, marriage certificates, family cards, identity cards, insurance documents, vehicle registration certificates (STNK), and motor vehicle owner books (BPKB).

Kandar said that ANRI has provided free family archive recovery services for flood victims since 2019. Previously, restoration services were only provided for archives of government institutions or agencies.
"Starting today we will open a post at the ANRI office. People are welcome to come to repair their damaged archives," he said.
ANRI also dispatched officers to tour the flooded areas in Jabodetabek to help residents repairing family files damaged by the floods.
"Apart from being able to repair damaged archives, people also receive training to restore damaged archives themselves. The hope is that they can restore themselves if there is a disaster," said Kandar.
Floods since early January 2020 have hit parts of Jabodetabek, causing at least 16 people to die and forcing tens of thousands of residents to flee.
