Prada MI, Who Spread The Hoax, Was Beaten Up To Trigger The Attack On The Ciracas Police, Became A Suspect

JAKARTA - Prada MI, the disseminator of fake news that triggered the attack and the appointment of the Ciracas Police Department was named a suspect. This determination was based on the results of an intensive examination.

"After a marathon examination was carried out by investigators, on September 5, 2020, his status was declared a suspect," said TNI AD Military Police Central Commander, Lt. Gen. Dodik Wijanarko, to reporters, Wednesday, September 9.

With the determination of the suspect, Prada MI could face a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison. Prada MI is charged with Article 14 paragraph 1 in conjunction with paragraph 2 of Law Number 1 of 1946.

"Whoever broadcasts false news or reports deliberately publishes disturbance in the community, is punished with a maximum imprisonment of 10 years," said Dodik.

Previously, 29 TNI personnel were named as suspects. This determination is based on the results of an investigation by the Military Police Center (Puspom) of the Indonesian Army from 29 August to 2 September.

"The status of suspects and the detention of 29 personnel has been filed," said Dodik at the TNI AD Police Headquarters, Central Jakarta, Thursday, September 3.

In this investigation, the TNI AD Puspom examined 51 personnel. Puspom is currently still investigating allegations of involvement of the other 21 members.

"Then 1 person was returned because his status was purely a witness," said Dodik.

Dozens of TNI soldiers are suspected of being involved in the attack and vandalism of the Ciracas Police, East Jakarta. Some of them have even confessed their actions.

It is said that the destruction of the Ciracas Police, East Jakarta was triggered by Prada MI's confession. He admitted to his colleagues that he had been beaten by a number of people. The news was also spread through the Whatsapp short message application group.

The destruction of the Ciracas Police, East Jakarta, took place on Saturday, August 29, in the early hours of the morning. The action caused the Police building and several facilities to be damaged. Three members were injured.
