Circulating Wild Issues Palangka Raya City Office Affected By KPK OTT, Inspector Ensures Hoaks
PALANGKA RAYA - The acting Inspector of Palangka Raya City, Central Kalimantan, Nur Hidayat, confirmed that no officials from the local city government were caught by the KPK's Hand Capture Operation (OTT).
"The rumors circulating yesterday regarding the existence of government officials in the City of Palangka Raya who were affected by the OTT carried out by the KPK are not true," said Nur in Palangka Raya, as reported by Antara, Friday, February 11.
In order to ensure the truth of the news that had circulated among the people of "City of Beauty", his party has conducted a search and confirmed it to the local Regional Apparatus Organization Unit (SOPD) officials.
"In fact, after we investigated, it turns out that there are no officials within the Palangka Raya City Government who have been affected by OTT. So the news circulating is a hoax or a lie spread by irresponsible people," said Nur.
The Palangka Raya City Government admitted that it did not know the motives and intentions of the party who deliberately spread the false news. The public was also asked not to easily believe the various information that was spread but the truth could not be ascertained.
In today's era of ease and openness, it is very easy for someone who is not responsible to spread various information and fake news. For this reason, the public must also be intelligent and wise in receiving, processing and disseminating information.
"If there are issues circulating, I ask that all of us not to believe quickly, let alone participate in spreading it. First, we will investigate the truth and then we will take a stand," he said.
Earlier on Thursday, February 10, information circulated, including via WhatsApp chain messages, that an official within the Palangka Raya City Government was caught in a sting operation by the Corruption Eradication Commission.
The message not only targeted local city officials but also reached a number of people, including journalists.
Furthermore, the Acting Inspector also appealed to all officials in the Palangka Raya City Government to carry out programs and activities in accordance with applicable rules and regulations.
"We as supervisors of the program activities in the government, will continue to carry out supervision in accordance with the authorities and duties of the inspectorate function," said Nur.
