High Rainfall, A Number Of Areas In Sekadau West Kalimantan Are Hit By Floods
KALBAR - The high intensity of rainfall in the last few days has caused a number of lowlands in the Sekadau area, West Kalimantan, to be flooded.
"I have reported the flood conditions to the regional government, such as the flood that occurred in Nanga Mahap since yesterday but so far it is still safe," said Sekadau DPRD chairman Radius Effendy in Sekadau as reported by Antara, Friday, February 11.
Effendy said that flooding occurred at several points. Although it has not had a big impact on the residents, it is feared that with the high intensity of rain, the flood has the potential to spread to other areas. "What is feared is that it will still rain in the upstream area and downstream from here it could be flooded with shipments from upstream," he said.
Separately, the Kumpang Bis Village apparatus, Belitang Hilir District, Nurdiansyah, said that the flood had also submerged his village with varying water depths of up to 180 centimeters.
"Currently, it is raining heavily from this morning. The only safe access is crossing here from SP 5 Menua Lrama, road access is cut off due to flooding, while the vaccination schedule is not long, we hope the water will recede soon," he said.
Narrated Nurdiansyah, the direction to the center of Kumpang Bus Village, the two closest roads were already flooded. Lalau River towards the Red River there is a point that is 180 centimeters deep. In addition, the Babi River access must be able to choose a road because the water depth is 140 centimeters.
Meanwhile, a merchant on the coast of the Sekadau river in Sekadau Hulu Sulia sub-district said he had not opened a shop because of the flood.
"In Rawak, the water still rises. We didn't open a shop today because of the flood. In front of it, the water is up to the knee and the water is knee-deep in the kitchen," he said.
Regarding the flood conditions in a number of areas in Sekadau Regency, the Regional Disaster Management Agency in that area could not be asked for information.
